Margaret Fearey Walsh

Margaret Fearey Walsh is the founder of Changing Places and a pioneer in concierge-level relocation and organizing services in the San Francisco Bay Area. With a background in interior design and decades of experience leading complex, high-touch projects, Margaret has built a reputation for calm leadership, discretion, and an uncommon ability to manage change with grace. Clients often describe her as “a blue blood with blue-collar work ethic”—a reflection of both her refinement and her willingness to do whatever the work requires.

 

After reinventing herself and launching her business in San Francisco in the early 1990s, Margaret grew Changing Places from a one-woman operation into a trusted firm of 30+ professionals serving families, executives, and advisors through life’s most significant transitions. Her personal experience navigating change shaped her belief that order creates clarity—and that clarity creates peace of mind. Today, that philosophy defines the company she built: thoughtful systems, compassionate service, and beautifully executed transitions.

Our Green Pledge

Our goal on every project is to recycle, donate, give away and reuse wherever possible.

We do our best to divert from landfill to minimize our carbon footprint and protect our lovely planet. Managing moves and clearing homes since 1993, we’ve handled many thousands of pounds of recycling, hazardous materials, mattresses, and garbage. On each and every job, we valiantly do our best to recycle with integrity and manage waste in a responsible manner.

From the moment Changing Places took over my move, everything clicked. What should have been a stressful relocation became surprisingly smooth. The coordination they handled was impressive. Multiple vendors, electricians, art installation—they juggled all the scheduling and logistics. Changing Places made moving genuinely enjoyable, which I didn't think was possible.
